ANZAC Display.

Today when we arrived at school there was a very special surprise waiting for us.  The Teachers had worked extremely hard to put a display together for us to commemorate the Anzacs and other soldiers who had fought and died for our country.

A World War 1 Model T Ford which was converted into a stretcher carrier.  

Rooms 9 and 10 ask and answer questions about Gallipoli.

This term, our whole school topic is Aotearoa and for week 1 we are focussing on the Anzacs as it is the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli.


We will be discussing why people chose to go to war, what the conditions were like, why we commemorate our soldiers, and also reading some first hand accounts of what life was like for the soldiers and other army personel.

Keeping ourselves Safe.

During week 8 and 9, Room 10 were learning about Keeping themselves Safe.  Here we are introducing ourselves to Constable Evan Garland.  We had to stand tall and look him in the eye!  Our hand shake had to be nice and firm!  Thank you constable Garland for visiting our classroom and discussing ways of being safe at home, at school, and in the Community.

Hockey with Scott.

In term 1 we were lucky to have some hockey coaching with Scott from Nelson Hockey.  We learnt lots of new skills and played some games.  It was lots of fun!
